Science Curriculum Vision
At Holly House we recognise the importance of science in every aspect of daily life.
We endeavor to create enthusiastic Science learners who understand that Science has changed our lives and is vital to the world's future prosperity.
We use practical activities to allow students to engage with the curriculum and encourage them to use higher order thinking through the use of stretch and challenge activities.
Intent
At Holly House we recognise the importance of science in every aspect of daily life.
Our aim is:
- that our Science curriculum will lead students to be enthusiastic Science learners and understand that Science has changed our lives and that it is vital to the world’s future prosperity.
- to equip students with the knowledge, skills and understanding that will allow students, where appropriate, to reintegrate back into a mainstream school and gain formal accreditation.
- to prepare our students for life in an increasingly scientific and technological world.
Implementation
- The National Curriculum provides the basis for our science curriculum, which is then tailored, through creative ‘hands on’ experimentation, to meet the learning and needs of the students in our school.
- Students are given the opportunity for higher order thinking and extended writing through stretch and challenge activities.
Impact
- Students will be enthusiastic and motivated scientific learners.
- Students will leave Holly house, equipped with the science knowledge and skills needed to succeed in further education.
